About The Author
Joy Chappell has been writing ever since she could pen a sentence together. She has finished two YA novels and two children’s books over the last few years and has enjoyed every part of the process. When she has time, she loves playing videos games with her three brothers which has been a big inspiration for Hero Up as well as her children's Roxie Noble books. She has graduated from college in Virginia majoring in Interdisciplinary Studies for arts and communications with a minor in creative writing.
Hello dear readers!
Yes, that was my author blurb, but here is a more personalized bio about myself–kind of like a letter to you! You know the basics about me from the above bio, but I wanted to talk more about my writing side down here...in case you're not sure you wanted to pick up one of my books. I'll try to keep this short...
YA books are definitely what I'm more focused on, but the children's books were super fun to write and I enjoyed putting my journal together! I'm still figuring out my top writing genre, so I'm dabbling in several. My favorites so far have to be dystopian and fantasy. I love writing action and adventure and mixing in contemporary. I haven't written a lot of romance, but I love adding a bit into my YA stories. (Although, I'm still working on writing it in better, haha!)
I basically love writing in the genres that I love reading in, so here are a few of my favorite books: The Hunger Games series, The Percy Jackson series, Warcross by Marie Lu, the Harry Potter series, Throne of Glass series, the Renegades series, etc...(I know there's a lot more books I love and a lot on my TBR list, but I can't remember all of them at this moment...)
Fun fact: my first ever book about writing that I read (and that helped me A LOT when I started getting more serious about writing) was Writing Fiction for Dummies! (I think it was this specific title, but I read it in 2014/2015 so I can't quite remember.) It was the first time I learned about story structure!
Okay, this is actually getting long, so I'll end here. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram @joyrchappell for writing updates and snippets of my life!
Love y'all!
